People don't care about Flash Player itself, they just want the ability to play video in the browser, which the iPhone is perfectly capable of doing. So instead of lobbying Apple for Flash support we should be lobbying web developers for video tag support.
Exactly! And not only video video tag support but the whole HTML5. Much faster and cleaner and ready to replace this flash crap. Good thing Apple is so large that they can actually transform whole markets.

All these rumors seem to be leading up to a PDA that doesn't have any input ability. and I think that's exactily what we need.

We're going to get a video nano... and then a month or two later a true video ipod.
It's the standard apple jive... realease one that we want and then another that we want more.
I will make a prediction right now that we'll never see a video nano. The screen is just too small. It might make an interesting curiosity, but not a viable product, IMO. The iPod video now is difficult enough. Of course, I'm rarely right on anything. :)
I'll stick with my 5G video iPod until a widescreen iteration of the product becomes available next year or so.

It's only �20 more now than a same-spec white one. Cheaper than before I think.
I was just about to post this. The UK store appears down for me at the moment. This is based on the edu price (the UK edu store is up for me).
I'm teetering the edge of buying the black one. If that price was for a 1x1GB memory config I'd be a lot more tempted.
I think I can wait until the MBP 13.3 that will be announced in January (alongside the touchscreen ipod). :D

I'm surprised they are still in business as well. They've been around a long time, I remember they used to be the place to get batteries. They are just like the Energizer bunny, they just keep going and going... Good for them for staying in the game.

Is there even a display technology that shows 3D without glasses and shows it even when you rotate the screen from landscape to portrait ? Lenticular surely isn't doing that, and I don't see Apple pushing 'those glasses' in their products ("The all new iSight !").

That's why local television coverage of professional sports have their blackouts lifted after a sellout. Not everyone who wants to watch can fit in the stadium/arena.
But there are larger venues available, so it is certainly possible to limit the number of attendees by choosing a venue that is too small.
It's a conference, not a rolling stones concert. You can't just infinitely scale upwards and provide a good experience. There are practical limits to the size of an audience you can have for useful sessions.

I'd suggest that those who's careers are based on maintaining our military can file for unemployment and search the want ads just like everybody else.

My local BB in Garner, N.C. had "some". I don't know how many. I was walking in for a different reason and saw 2 people in line at the security guy who hovers at the door when you leave. They had clear shopping bags each with an obvious iPad 2 within. They were getting their receipts checked as they were walking out.
When I finally made it to the computer section, I did not see any lines so assume they were gone or not a mad rush as expected from today's sale. It was about 30 mins after opening.

This is awesome news. I said just the other day that I probably wouldn't buy a 23" iMac (though I would *look* at one) and I would probably just get a 23" ACD + Mac Mini instead... now that they've brought back the wall-mounting option I'm very tempted indeed. My current iMac G5 (rev B) is wall-mounted to save desktop space. The weight of the new 24" is about the same as the older 20" so that isn't an issue for my existing mount. Would just have to check that the position on the wall won't be too low.
I'm thinking of going away next week... if I weren't I'd have probably ordered one already!

I guess we'll see the second coming of the ibook shortly. This will probably be a small tablet size. Is it possible to use two different kind of screen technology on the same screen. OLED and TFT. The only thing is that when I was in Japan earlier this year I saw and used the Sony ereader with eInk it was really a very nice device and the screen feels like a paperback book, it isn't true white and doesn't strain the eyes. I guess, this new device is going to use text recognition and voice over, I don't know if this is going to work since Agnes is not really that great wih expressions, but we'll see. I really have no clue how this is going to pan out, I really would rather have Apple release a gread digital video camera with HD/HD but they have some sort of deal with sony or panasonic that they won't what gives!!!!

There's another temperature monitoring utility, called appropriately enough, Temperature Monitor. I switched to it after CoreDuoTemp was flaking out on me. So far, it's given me pretty reliable readings. Maybe you guys should try that.
I'm pretty sure readings of 15C-19C are incorrect. I've NEVER seen or heard of modern laptop/desktop CPUs running that cool.
The lowest readings I've gotten on my laptop, from memory, would be low to mid 40s. It usually idles at mid-50s.
With regards to "pushing the machine = shutdown"... that's only somewhat true. Making both cores 100% cpu usage has been a way to trigger the random shutdown, but that doesn't make it the cause. I've had plenty of situations where my MacBook was idling and just turned itself off...

The ios iPod app is an abomination. Even with my moderately sized(about 3000 songs, most are just vocab flash cards) the thing chokes on my 3gs and even a bit on 1g iPad. It takes seconds, yes SECONDS to respond to input, not to mention all the crashing. Even if they could make a 128gb iPod touch, I would shudder to think at how insanely slow the iPod app would be if you loaded that puppy up with music.
In my case it's adding ONE podcast to listen too before bed, then waiting forever as it sits there "updating" the library. I can sync and start to listen to it in the same time on my classic.

I don't know why so many people are against 3D. It sounds like people who say "Get off my lawn!!" Sure, 3D isn't fully developed yet, but even the 3DS is pretty neat and adds a whole new level of gameplay and immersion. It is surely the next level of tangible UI.
