Still not sure where you're getting this "less than half the total" figure...
This quarter, Macs accounted for $2.213 billion in revenue. iPods accounted for $1.559 billion, plus another $452 million in music-related revenue, for a total of $2.011 billion. So, even without counting Mac peripherals and software, music revenue was less than Mac revenue.
Last quarter, Mac revenue was $1.866 billion, while iPods sold $1.497 billion, plus another $457 million in other music-related revenue, for a total of $1.954 billion for the music end.

So what are the stories on this site about cases for upcoming products? Are manufacturers gambling on leaked information? I'm just asking; not being sarcastic.
In this case I think Apple would as they provided bumpers themselves for the antenna issue. I believe they would want properly fitting bumpers for this version.
Anyway I think the size is still the same. The current cases should fit like white on rice.
Have you not seen the stories/threads on here about the guys that got arrested for leaking the iPad 2 dimensions? That's how those cases were made so early in advance. Here's a link: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1144385
Take a look at some of the bigger case manufacturers and how they had little to no cases ready (except for some of the cases that are a "universal" design) for the Verizon iPhone launch, like Speck, Otterbox, etc. In some instances, they lucked out and already had case models that would fit the new vibrate switch because the older design wasn't as precisely cut, but in many cases, they had to redesign completely.
Added: And if you remember the cases 2 years ago that made it all the way to some retail stores for the iPod touch that had a camera cutout in the back (a full year before the camera was even in the iPod touch), yes, some manufacturers do in fact gamble on rumors. In that instance, they lost their bet.

Do some research on what tall buildings do to cell towers/signal and the ability for your phone to handle constant hand-offs between thousands of towers. Trust me, sky scrapers make it impossible for Verizons, T-mobile, or any other carriers service to be much better than the rest. The other carriers are just better about hiding their shortcomings from the public.

Registered my Starbucks card finally and got 5 stars. Now that I'm green I get a free tall drink (shown below) with every whole bean purchase. Bought the Breakfast Blend to start making at home. @$9.95 with a savings of $3.45 on the tall drink, it's a great deal. I'll save money making Starbucks at home!
You need a card for that? Everytime I buy a bag I just get the tall coffee for free.

Apple refurbed are the best you can find in most cases.
Apple never puts previously damaged hardware on the refurbed store, only open boxed then returned products, or products at End Of Life (EOL). You will find TONS of the previous models on there for 15% off or more.
Any damaged goods always get parted out and used as Genius Bar parts for repair.
There are TONS of things I don't like about Apple, but they actually do refurbished good very very well.I strongly suggest against a refurbished model of older revisions. It is similar to purchasing a Core 2 model. The base 21.5" Sandy Bridge once it hits refurb would be tempting at ~$999.
Right, which is why I really need to wait for the Pro, just to see if it's price is reasonable, and if it really makes it a worthy and expandable option over the iMac.
I would've chosen the iMac over the Mac Pro in the last iteration of either machine. This new iMac is making the "expandable" option a little more moot.
I will learn how to solder and service an iMac if it saves me $1000+
This is the first worthwhile iMac solely based on the stillborn potential of Thunderbolt and the quad on the base models. It only took 5 years.

From the screenshots alone, it looks like a Cocoa app, which pretty much guarantees it'll be faster because it won't have the extra Qt bloated code in it ;)
Right, and Cocoa isn't the slightest bit bloated? (can you say runtime messaging and binding overhead?)
Regardless of the relative difference in overhead, I'd expect it to be negligible in both cases. This is just the gui that sits around the virtual machine, a nice window dressing to make it accessible to the user. It should only be exercised when you're doing stuff like editing configurations or attaching devices. The real meat of either VMware or Parallels should have nothing to do with what gui toolkit they use to display the window.
It's exciting to see this finally moving along. I really think virtualization will play a much larger role in everyday computing in the future. Forget backwards compatibility nightmares, just virtualize it. I'm already hogging way too much disk space on my Macbook with a few Parallels VMs that I use on a regular basis. Whenever Apple releases an affordable desktop Mac that can take more than 4 GB of memory, I might check out VMware at that time and see if it's any better.

What's the next logical step in a computer interface? I used to say "Computer, show me the money" to open Quicken back in pre-OS X days. More of a gimmick than anything else, but imagine if the Finder and maybe even other apps became "speakable."
Me: "Check mail"
Computer: "You have nine new messages. Would you like me to read them?"
Me: "No, thanks."
(clicks on an email, reads message)
Me: "Reply to this message"
Computer: "Type or speak?
Me: "Type"
type-type-type
Me: "Computer, I'd like to add a photo of the kids to this email."
Computer: "iphoto has 6,813 pictures of the kids, which one would you like?"
Me: "One from the birthday party last week."
Computer: (a strip from iphoto appears) "Here are 23 from last week. I've highlighted the one where your wife fixed the red eye. Is that the one you want?"
Me: "Yes, that will be fine."
Computer adds the picture to stationery in the email, other pictures go away.
Me: "Send the email"
Me: "...and order me a pizza."
This kind of thing can't be too far off. A 75 mhz Performa could do it in a rudimentary way. Imagine what a modern Mac may be able to do. "Speakeasy" has a nice ring to it.
You watch too much Star Trek. It's still a computer, not a digital house servant. Although..... that would be pretty cool. "Computer, go make me a sandwich."

More Sheen madness. Just slightly alarming.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/la-me-charlie-sheen-20110303,0,1251027.story
Sheen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault after the Aspen incident, in which Mueller told authorities that he threatened her with a knife at their holiday home.
In her new allegations, Mueller revealed it was not the first incident. In October she alleged that Sheen "knocked me to the floor, causing me to hit my head on the corner of a couch. I was knocked unconscious and required medical attention, including a CAT scan."

I wonder if this new pricing scheme is being enabled by the record labels with lower wholesale pricing to Amazon (to try, yet again, to take power out of Apple's hands), or if Amazon is simply doing this at a loss?
Why would Amazon want to take a loss - to support non-Apple mp3 players?
For Apple, they are not making much, if any money - they always planned it as a break-even business - the real value was the content eco-system tied to their products (= value for customers).
Gain market share for Amazon. Like last year when they sold MP3 albums at a loss.

I really don't care, as long as iOS 5 beta 1 gets here soon. If we really have to wait for June well that sucks, but whatever.
The problem I have with this delay is that 2 other phones on my account are due for upgrade, and both of those people EXPECT a new iPhone in June. If I tell them more like October/November, they won't be happy, and will end up getting the iPhone 4 instead.
I sure Apple cares more about selling iPhone 5s this year than they do clearing out old inventory, so this delay is pretty poor management on their part.

ignorance, really? I was expecting that a lot sooner, because you people think, that everyone that disagrees with your life style is an ignorant bigot.
a different ethnicity, What makes you think I have a problem with that? Why are you trying to bring up the race card? Were not talking about lesbians or criminals either.
It might be possible to fool me when it comes to a transvestite, but it is hard to hide big hands, an adams apple, and wide shoulders, among other things.
I will teach her the morals that I believe in, and she will not be hurt at all. Believe it or not, there are a lot of woman, with conservative values, living happy, productive lives.
Yes. Ignorance.
A trans woman goes into the bathroom, does her business, washes her hands and leaves...just like every other woman in a restroom. How exactly does that pose a threat to your daughter?
You may not think you are hurting her with "your morals", but growing up to hate and fear those that are different will only hurt her when she doesn't have you to guard the bathroom for her anymore. I believe that there are women with "conservative" values living happy, productive lives. As they say, ignorance is bliss.

What is with all the pop up warning on safari. Warning you have tabs open do you want to quit? Warning, you have text if field do you want to quit? You know what? I don't press apple-q on accident, in fact I'd say you'd have to do that on purpose. All these pop-up and confirms, well I fear it's become more windows like if you will. Pretty soon no one will read the things. I sure hope you can turn the things off, or hope they change it.
For those who remember, when apple had an early release or beta of OS X, they put the apple logo right in the middle of the top bar, not to mention it did nothing and was completely non functional. Glad they didn't go with that. I'm hoping they do away with these confirm buttons
Can't an OS be simple to use anymore?
I welcome the pop up warning. I constantly open and close windows in tabs and what-not, and cmd-w and dangerously close to cmd-q. I've accidently hit it before, closing something like 15 tabs that I wanted to keep open. Maybe there will be a way for you to turn it off if you feel as if you don't need it.
Taking a good look at Leopard and what's on Tiger, I think that the majority of changes are either evolutionary or not really that exciting. /yawn

And you're really going to use all that are you? With the exception of RAM and hard disks, most computer consumers never expand their computers.
Few even upgrade their HD's, i think apple users upgrade the RAM but that's only because Apple have *never* sold a computer (at least since the original iMac) with enough RAM.
One interesting think I have realised from going back to a PC laptop (i'm borrowing it and waiting for new MBP's/MB's) is how annoying many of the applications are, for example WinSCP, when you move a file across it brings up a dialog to confirm where you want to copy it to, even though the odds are 99.99% that you want to move it from the visible directory on the left to the visible directory on the right. An OS X application (eg Fugu or Cyberduck in this case) would never do that. Basically even if Vista is superior to Leopard in ease of use and features (which ain't gonna happen :p) because OS X app's are in general designed better I'd probably keep using a Mac, this is an excellent reason to switch too.

What has apple done that is unethical?
I consider lack of hardware recalls unethical. They always try to hoard as much money as they can.
A few examples are:
1-2007 iPod Touch inverted black issue that was a HARDWARE related problem with the coating on it. Apple just released a firmware update to cover the problem by changing the gamma settings.
2-iPhone antenna issue, cheap 50 cent bumpers to cover the problem because they think everyone should just be a lab rat for them. Then their attitude that it wasn't a issue until the media exploded all over it. Then they act like children and release all those youtube videos of antenna problems with a bunch of other phones like its acceptable.
3-2007 Classic/Nano, when initially released these were the biggest pieces of crap, it was like no one even bothered to turn them on before they released it and it wasn't until 6 months later that the classic was updated enough to work decent. Some issues were:
a) unable to retain ratings if you played any games
b) extremely slow navigation (esp the classic)
c) reboot loops for some
d) coverflow as useless on the classic (though I never used it anyway)
This was actually the 1st iPod I had to take back because it was so nonfunctional, from this point on it seems quality control has taken a backseat.
iTunes 7 was ridiculous when syncing any of the 2007 devices it would randomly freeze for 2-3 seconds when you tried to transfer files and it would take forever to get them to sync because of this. Took apple 2 months to even fix it.
4-The App pack update they charged iPod touch users $20 for then barely a month later they released a update and charged $10 for it and it already included the $20 app... so essentially the early adapters paid $30 in the end.
5-Their discussion boards are heavily modded and anything negative about their products that they don't like they remove it for no reason. In otherwords, they refuse to look at the criticism with a open mind and instead try to cover it.
6-The iLounge 3rd gen shuffle review had a not recommended rating on their site and as a response apple denied them access to the next event. They are giant manipulators when it comes to 3rd party reviews of their products.
7-While I can't say if it is a music industry issue or apple trying to nickle and dime people, but I thought it was ridiculous that they were charging 30 cents to get DRM files for the early adapters like myself (I had well over 700 songs in DRM format). Essentially making people pay $1.30 for each song while if someone new came to iTunes they could get the song for $1 still. (At the beginning iTunes was still a flat $1 charge).
8-Apple has had SEVERAL display problems (the 27" iMac displays) over the years, once again they attempt to fix these issues with "firmware" updates.
It seems since around 2007 apple has just dropped the ball ethically, since they are on top in several markets they seem to have cared about nothing but getting as much money out of consumers as possible.
Sorry but that is how I view it. I think they make some amazing hardware and I own several iPods and I love every single one of them but I think Apple as a company is pretty shoddy.

Haha, I don't care, but it would have been nice to keep it going since I did the last 2 and put some work in tracking down old threads and adding up posts etc etc. Whatever.
Really? So even after I PM you and apologize for stepping on toes that I did not know were there you're still going to give me crap? I don't get it. Now, on the note of tracking down old threads, I will add them since it is apparently SOP to have them there. I will likely do it in a while though, I hope that is acceptable to you.
What I truly love is when I take the time to apologize for creating a thread, which is absurd, then that very person continues to brow beat me over the content, format, and apparent creation. If using your logic then you creating the last two stepped on the toes of the one who created the one just before yours. Again, this seems absurd and quite childish.
If this is going to ruin your day then please PM me and ask me to have a mod delete this thread to leave it open for you to create a new one. I don't gain anything by creating a new thread, I just saw the other exceeded 2k posts. Again, this was as innocent as I could possibly get and yet I'm still being **** on by people who apparently have issues with me.

I think it's best if Vista is avoided altogether. The best way to avoid problems with Microsoft is not to give them any money and not to load any of their software on your computer.
At work here we just discovered that upgrading to Internet Exploder 7 causes two of our most important Internet based products to not work properly. They ever heard about backwards compatibility or testing at Microsoft? Just reinforces my reasoning for not sending Microsoft almost $300 to subject myself to their newest software fiasco. I think I'll do something more rewarding and pleasurable like jab a Bic pen into the palm of my hand.

Maybe you should have a look at the rest of the comparison (http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fryancash.net%2Fpost%2F5019047695%2Fwhite-iphone-4-is-thicker&t=1304024405) photos.
It'll be interesting to see if this is across the board.
Yup looked at them all now, still no difference in size really. The only photo that might show a diff in size is really blurry.
Someone needs to use a caliper and check. Photos won't show it accurately
