The issue being that Halo proportionately seems to have a greatest number of jerks playing, as compared to say other games.
I think you're choosing to miss my point. The feeling amongst many is that Halo proportionately has the greatest collection pinheads collectively. Whether Halo had only 4 people, 3 of them would be @$$hats, while say Forza ( which does have some seriously anal players ) might have 1 out of 4 jerks. The fact that Halo is the biggest online portion of Live, is besides the point, law of averages aside.
The shame is that a game as great as Halo, somehow brings out the worse in such a large portion of it's players.
... And yes, the PA cartoon is dead on. :)
I also promise I'm done with this, I just wanted to make sure I was clear. :)

This is my set up while on rotations in hospitals. Very handy as a mobile office!
Still on the fence about getting the 11.6" mba. While small, I think multitasking will be a nightmare on it. So cute though!
LOVE IT. What is that case?

You guys are missing the point.
Obviously the '64-bit' refers to the fact that the new Apple machines are going to have a slot to plug in Nintendo 64 cartridges...
I thought that was a little obvious at this point but I guess I was wrong.

In a free and prosperous market, business exists and is done solely because it is profitable. When it ceases being profitable, it must be stopped. To keep pouring 100 units of money into something for the sake of getting 10 units of money out via payroll can only end in one thing....failure. (I'm using 'units of money' as a general example)
One of the greatest travesties of our time is that too many people think that economics is a scientific endeavor rather than a branch of sociology.
Believe it or not, some businesses, especially those that are family owned, exist solely to provide social welfare.

Very curious as to how you get all these cups. I keep thinking in my head that there is no way you are taking them out of the garbage, so my next thought is do you work at a coffee house?
I think it's a neat idea. Interested to see more.

Exmor sensors are CMOS. I think Sony stopped making CCD or atleast not popular of making CCD sensors.
Not true. CCDs are still in most DSCs.

The President's opinion on the matter...
I personally don't give a flying "eff" what our current co-opted president thinks about this subject. He's proven quite capable of toe-ing the same company line which has brought us here in the first place.
Would you like to hear what former president Eisenhower had to say on the issue?

@OP, this is very sad. I have been with the facebook app forever. Infact I use it more often than my PC! I hope I get push notifications though...it's a shame. The fb app was the first one I got and it's without a doubt my most used app next to safari if you can consider safari an app.
I see this as an excuse for the developer to explore new horizons. Was it not the same "middleman process" when he first submitted the FaceBook app?? I'm sure it was; however maybe the recent changes are slowing final development to fruition & consumption.
Still the web still has a LONG way to go to become so called "best mobile app" because not all data should be sourced in real time or pulled/pushed when needed by the user. Many places where wireless provider data is STILL not truely unlimited & thus restricted (Canadian providers ALL the incumbents STILL charge & cap a specific ceiling of 1-2GB monthly with few % on the offered/pulled 6gb of data; along with tethering restrictions/allowances and so called "fair use" policies).
There are many applications that serve just as well or better with a single burst of data for 1 time & initial requests. Only specific changes in data which wold affect users are required and incremental.
Some applications, like stock data for trading applications, world news events/reports - need and require a continuous stream of data. Issue is web based cloud "apps" (more like interfaces) change not only the data presented to the end user, but many times augmenting the GUI layout which most of the times is not needed; this lacks in efficient data streaming, and more data bucket usuage & costs to the end user.
There is a HUGE reason why WML/WAP1.1 failed, and why WAP2.0 is in a static state of developmental evolution and suits feature phones, and not smartphones.
Yes I'm aware of HTML5 and what GoogleWave presents - but it proves that the GUI layout consistently changes due to new data streams and provides great event notifications - but its NOT suited for a battery packing handheld smartphone/feature phone device. To put it simply developers that code specifically to the web think of Desktops/Laptops (and recently MIDS) First & Foremost; mobile is thought up of only after mass consumption of their work is taken noticed. THAT is the issue.
Smartphones are THE MOST PERSONAL and trusted computing platform and thus heavily guarded by the end user. As such there NEEDS to be some kind of regulation, to what extent can be argued and never resolved for the next 10yrs - but it cannot nor should NOT be left to the end user!
At one point in the future, a smartphones evolution as a mobile device to a lifestyle personal companion should be as easy, as free, and as care free to use as our voices, words and hands (in any language, context & intent) and evolve as such. The only limitations are common sense, experience, and specific laws & moral aptitude for their uses.
Wow, that is thinking different. I think I'm high!!

At that price, I hope Apple considers preinstalling Vista on its machines.
240 bucks for Boot Camp is ludacris, when you'll probably hardly use it anyway...
I'd rather download it from torrent for free.. who'd give crap all that money?!

When I look at Apple's app reviewing, I think about how Nintendo did gatekeeping in the 80's in order to maintain the quality of its game library. A few third party developers got pissed, you had the black cartridges, but it worked out in Nintendo's favor.
To me the gatekeeping is just a business decision. It's not perfect but it does filter out a lot of crap out there. Apple just has to streamline their review process to be more consistent

I would rather Apple optimize the current iOS to make the iPad run faster and more efficiently. If iOS 5 hits the mark, we can go back to adding more hardware. So far firmware upgrades have been for ADDING features rather than speed tweaks.
Apple put the worst iphone 2g camera they had in the iPad 2, which was disappointing, but we live with it because it is still "ok" in bright light. We know it will get a camera upgrade for iPad3, not much to debate there. This is a good upgrade.
A 3D screen, not so much a need and really not a want for many. Just make it faster, make it better, don't worry with 3D bells and whistles just yet. Make it awesome, then make it any way you want. Right now with a 2g camera in the front, no flash or autofocus, and a processor that is good, but not GREAT there is still much to do before moving on.

Screw this "beaming it over" nonsense.
Yes, that is a very nerdy/geeky thing to do. "Zune"-ing music wirelessly is only something geeks can come up with, whereas Steve's suggestion of sharing earbuds is so much cooler and, dare I say it, sexually suggestive! ;)

For those hoping for a merom MacBook Pro (like me) on the 12th, I wouldn't hold your breath. Going by previous Apple laptop upgrade cycles, I would expect to see the merom MBP by around the middle of October.
I don't think that we'll be kept waiting quite that long. I don't think Steve will let Dell and other companies put out Core 2 Duos without Apple being close behind.
I do think we'll see a very soon Tuesday or Sept. 12th release. If not, a ton of college going students aren't going to be pleased.

Well, Libya does have oil. Maybe once we help the al-Qaeda-allied rebels (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8407047/Libyan-rebel-commander-admits-his-fighters-have-al-Qaeda-links.html) get rid of Gadaffi, they'll sell us some.
America doesn't care who actually owns the oil, we just need access to it, or we need to crack open a country to be bought up by our favorite oil companies (Iraqi oilfields). As long as relations are good with whoever owns the resource (doesn't matter if that ownership came about via warfare) and we have access, the rest doesn't seem to matter.

BTW, even if I believed that Apple was going to come out with an Apple cellphone (and I don't (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2674706&postcount=359), I've never seen so many people absolutely convinced of the existance of an unlikely product.), WWDC would unquestionably be a bad place to announce it. If you believe such a thing exists, wait for an appropriate consumer-oriented show or a special event.
An Apple phone that runs on some sort of mobile OS X should be released at a developer's conference. Presumably, developers will write applications for a new mobile platform.

Availability?
With the millions of these the iphone takes maybe adding the millions the ipad2 would use is beyond the current capacity of their manufacturers?
Or, if production capacity would have meant to introduce the ipad2 later, they used what was available at the time.
As for $ 5 more, multiply that with the amount of devices they make and it's millions of dollars. In any company a net cost of $ 5 doesn't stay that way. It gets multiplied up to retail.
Deliberate ploy, don't think so. But, since we both don't have any proof..........
Good theories. It's definitely a lot more complicated than people realize.

for all those people talking about the updates, your monthly data cap and overages... I'm pretty darn sure the Over-the-Air updates would be free and not count against your monthly cap...
probably why they are in talks with verizon.... because otherwise why would verizon care they would be all gun ho for it cause they would get a ton of extra overage money...
