So after spending maybe as much as 8k before the member of staff has even started and you've bought their software, to be able to pay 85/m for the software instead of 1700 in one hit is a much needed relief.
Interesting point, although what you're not factoring in is that the resale value of CS5 is substantial whereas the resale value of the subscription model is ZERO :D

Who says that they have to honor Grandfathering of Plans?
did you read the first 9 words of my post?:confused::confused:
here i'll repost it for you:
I don't know if they "legally" are required to
I was just saying, this is what they do...
Hell I even remember when the Palm Pre was released on Sprint talking with some people who had some premier type account (don't remember the name) from way back when that was not offered anymore, and even they got grandfathered in....

I really like the idea of a 10th anniversary version of the classic. It is retro enough to represent the first model of the iPod, but is updated enough to hold gobs of music and video. A solid state model that retains the click wheel would be sweet! :D The touch is a great device, but for music, I still prefer a tactile interface. I have a 4G nano, but it only holds a part of my collection. If the drop the classic, I will grab one for sure.

Hopefully its tomorrow or the 16th for the MBP, but im done getting my hopes up. All this waiting is especially frusterating for me because this is my first mac and i am sure the c2d model will suit my needs for years. I am just a tech junkie waiting for the next best thing. :(

The Beatles were pure Genius ... The song "Why don't we do it in the road"
The complete lyrics are ... why don't we do it in the road? no one will be watching us ... why don't we do it in the road?
I challenge any Band to create a hit song with that type of song writing?
I get the feeling some of you guys aren't a whole lot of fun to hang out with. :p

What happens if I have a 400 MB video file and I make 20 changes, and save the file after every change.
When you save a video project it does not rewrite all the video files you're using as a source of footage, it just writes a new project file which describes how those source video files should be edited together. So Time Machine would not resave all the source files over and over, just the very small video project file that changed.

No, this is incorrect.
Apple sold it's OS's for Mac hardware only, long before people started running OS X on PC's.
Mac OS's sold without hardware are sold as upgrades. End of story.
You're missing the point. If you have a Mac that meets the hardware requirements, you can purchase any version of OS X, there is no other software prerequisite. The fact that it is an "upgrade" is irrelevant, because you don't already to have any other software, other that what the computer originally shipped with.
For the people who thinks that Vista is too expensive:
Mac users: Spend more $ on hardware. Spend less $ on software.
Windows users: Spend more $ on software. Spend less $ on hardware.
What a shock the computing industry works both ways.
Think again...
Robert Weston (Associated Press) (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060823/ap_on_hi_te/tech_test_mac_pro_3) and Yuval Kossovsky (ComputerWorld) (http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9002545&source=NLT_MAC&nlid=62) both found the Mac Pro to be hundreds of dollars less than an equivalent Dell...

Reading the reactions to iPod in 2001 were hilarious. It shows how far we've come in our trust of Apple, I'm not speaking as an expert. Now it seems like if Steve Jobs breathes we'll buy it. I am sad to see the iPod go I have 120gb and may have to upgrade before they go. I use every kb of mine.

Eff Wal-Mart.
And if you shop at Wal-Mart when other choices are available, then eff you, too.
People think the Antichrist will be a single person. I tell you that it's very possible that the collective amount of evil within the organization known as Wal-Mart qualifies it for Antichrist status.
(In case you are still wondering, I don't much care for Wal-Mart.)

My wife and I are both alive and well, we only just got electricity back about an hour or so ago. Worst 4 days of our lives, but we got off lucky. Others lost everything, including themselves.
It's a MBP on wireless internet. When it hit, I was hunkered in the interior bathroom with it, the cell phone, a flashlight and two very upset cats.
Glad to hear your OK Corvus.:)
(that's not to say I don't have sympathy for those that didn't fare so well)

Speaking of Quicktime 7 - know anything that adds those features back?
You can install Quicktime 7 again from your Snow Leopard disc, it's in something like the 'extras' folder. It doesn't replace Quicktime X though; you'll have both.

I agree....but wouldn't it be better to say, malicious hackers? I think that most hackers are good people and just like to tinker with things. Of course there's always going to be some bad apples.
Yeah, hacking is just taking something and tinkering with it to make it do something that it's not really designed to do, isn't it? This can sometimes be useful and fun, but can obviously also be done for malicious purposes, and that's sometimes referred to as "cracking" and the ones who do it as "crackers".
Here's the link to the main blog page, with video: link (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/)
What do you think?
Wait a second. They use a 3rd party wireless card, and he said in the end that "the flaw is not in the Apple operating system as we used 3rd party hardware". I'd say that's quite different from the impression I got from reading the macrumors headline here. A default MacBook using the built in Airport isn't vulnerable as far as I can tell.
He also said that the exploit isn't as trivial as a generic buffer overflow. Now, to exploit a generic buffer overflow, you need to have a certain level of l337ness to begin with, so that means you don't have to worry about your neighbour braking into your wireless network, just yet. Unless someone releases premade tools to do the exploitation, I'd say that normal people and small businesses don't have to worry at the moment.

For those still looking to buy an iPad 2, Sunday, April 17th may be a good time to try. Both Best Buy and Toys R' Us are advertising iPad 2 availability for that day. Best Buy is featuring a prominent nationwide ad for Sunday promoting the iPad 2 (see above). The promotion appears to be the reason (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/08/best-buy-not-in-trouble-with-apple-holding-ipad-2-stock-for-upcoming-promotion/) why Best Buy was previously holding back iPad 2 sales. Engadget publishes (http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/15/still-need-an-ipad-2-head-to-best-buy-on-sunday-sunday-sunday/) the internal memo describing the promotion.
Meanwhile, 9to5mac reports (http://www.9to5mac.com/61694/exclusive-toys-r-us-to-start-selling-16-gb-and-32-gb-wifi-ipad-2s-smart-covers-tomorrow-sunday-april-17/) Toys R' Us is also using the same day to kick off their iPad 2 sales. Toys R' Us was previously rumored (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/07/apple-expanding-ipad-2-retail-presence-to-toys-r-us/) to soon begin carrying the iPad 2. Toys R' Us' website now lists (http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=11202426&camp=MISC:Vanity:printads:TRU:iPadstores:30311) locations that will be carrying the iPad 2.

Why are you bothering mentioning Best Buy like they haven't been selling the iPad2 SINCE RELEASE DAY? Jesus, anything to get someone to click on your story huh? Desperate much?

Lol @ the hoax.
That said, I wish there were rumors about the white MacBook. I mean, there's been updates this soon before. The current model isn't too bad, though. :)

I soo want it to look like this,.
Man, I soooo do not.
I'd prefer the sizing of the Mini but thinner like the Nano. I find the width to height ratio of the nano too small and fragile looking.
Want better colors and saturation also. The weak colors look lousy. Can't they do something bolder or richer like the Razor phones or some of the other phone colors out in the market.
