Wow! It's really disturbing how many people are so quick to call this an unfair attack on Apple-- and how quickly the argument on this board gets labeled as "apologists" against "bashers".
What's next? The code was written at Apple, but by a contractor? The guy who wrote that code has only been with the company for a year? None of the other coders like the guy responsible for that one, so it doesn't count?
Look: I don't care who wrote what code-- if it makes my machine vulnerable then it's bad. It's not whether Apple wrote it, or whether or not they tested sufficiently (which is nuts because most stuff like this needs to be designed properly-- it's nearly impossible to test all the possible vectors)-- it's that my Mac isn't secure.
Or someone else's, as I don't have a Macbook, but you get the idea...
When Apple started advertising its security, we knew this would start to happen. If you tell someone they can't, they'll want to prove they can. The question isn't whether vulnerabilities turn up, because they certainly will, it's how Apple handles it from here. Are they upfront and quick to respond, or do they forward you to Symantec?

If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release.
And who, exactly, are you talking about?
All I've seen are a few anonymous comments on this message board. Who are those people? Are they pros? I don't know who they are. Do you know?
Funny how you've developed a whole theory about "professionals" and yet you haven't proved in any way that any pros said what you claimed they said. I've read that the crowd at the show seemed to really love it.
So if you're going to come here and claim you've heard people saying the exact opposite of the news report then you really need to explain where you heard that and who was saying it.
I'm not necessarily referring to the responses on this thread, just some of the general backlash that Final Cut Pro X has received for looking like iMovie by people claiming to be industry professionals. I use the term loosely because I'm makIng a point about the meaninglessness of the word "professional". Why am I getting such bitter responses from people who seem to agree with my point?

This is the last of the mythical creatures shots. The Rok was another one too big for the frame. I did take one wide-angle of the whole thing, but it lacked the drama of this one. And look! I finally have a bird picture to share! ;)

I have dinosaur fossil pictures from this same day, and I also have a series of pictures of Lilburn, GA old town (suburb where I live that is near Atlanta). Anyone have a preference?

I am American. Perhaps thats something the executive team at Wal-Mart has forgotten about. I am free to choose where and when I spend my hard-fought dollars. Though Wal-Mart and its team may be able to manipulate those choices, I will always - ALWAYS - have the choice NEVER to spend another dollar at Wal-Mart. Ever.
I mean what the hell I live in America, not Wal-Mart-ica!

The BBC link below - seems to suggest it's all batteries including the latest portables.... however it could be a reporter just not knowing the difference between a PB/iBook and MBP etc

yeah aussie store is down. but if the US store isn't down, it doesn't mean anything does it?
I think the US store usually goes down last.

All iMac G5s have USB 2.0 - you're either mistaken or quoting your machine incorrectly.
You guys are right. I do have USB 2. It's just because system profiler didn't specify, it kind of confused me.

Oh ya... he's something cheesie... this has been on my mind for a while. In january, Steve demoed GarageBand and showed how to make PodCast. He did that fake podcast and said 'Hi this is steve, and this is my Super secret apple PodCast' then he proceded to make jokes about the next iPod... he said the next iPod coming out would have a 10 inch screen and weigh 8 pounds.
Well... Tuesday is 8/10
Remember 2 years ago when Jobs demoed Spotlight... he searched for 'Paris' then searched for iMac. Sure enough... the iMac G5 was released at Paris.
I just thought that was interesting.

well I went to my closest Best Buy today but they did not have any for sale but they said the one by the mall had a few for sale. I went to the mall but stopped by the Apple Store in the mall first.
The Apple Store did have models for sale and there was practically no line and they handled out tickets for the models that they did have. I was able to get the 32gb white model that I wanted and I am using it to type this out.
Thanks MacRumors for the article cause otherwise I was planning to order one online and wait the 2 to 3 weeks that it would have taken otherwise.

That is wonderfully quotable.
Interesting rumor, who knows if really true. 3D just isn't that widely accepted yet. I have enjoyed looking at some of the 3D TVs at Best Buy very much, but I wouldn't buy one!

Reading some of the posts about this on Twitter, it may (or may not be) about the Three20 project (Objective C library for developing iPhone apps) that was developed by Hewitt. It apparently was using private APIs and may have been getting other people's apps, who were using the code, rejected. Conceivably, the Facebook app could have been using the same private API calls and was continually getting rejected. Supposedly, Apple has some new way to check out if you're using these APIs. Hewitt may have just got fed up with the situation and decided to quit.

I assume you mean headless tower since all the iMacs and the MAC Mini are desktops......... Oh wait, isn't the MAC Pro a headless tower?
Mac, not MAC. They're different things.

The other company's comparable machines to the MacBook Pro have C2D processors. The ones that compete against the MacBook don't for the most part. Apple didn't drop the ball.
Correct! The MB is an excellent value as-is. Of course we all want "more" for our money, and I expect Apple to drop the C2D into MBs soon - if not now, by MWSF at the latest. And if they offer a graphics chip as a BTO option, that's just icing on the cake - at their current price-point, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep integrated graphics, though (in part to push sales of MBPs for those needing a graphics chip.)

Ouch.
I get 36 hours on my Droid X without any issues...
If youre getting 36 hours youre barely using it for anything more than texting/calls/web browsing etc.
Youre definitely not getting 36 hours without charging playing games/streaming music etc. on top of texting/calls/web browsing. the iPhone too gets 36 hours if you use it like you do.

A little fill flash to get a catchlight in the eye and this would be perfect.

Its a heavy crop as he was very far. Too far for fill flash to have any effect unfortunatally.
