I think Apple may at least consider putting an ATI x1400 in the top model (blackbook) but I'm afraid the Intel x3000 for Mobile chipset is not coming out until Santa Rosa. The desktop version is now available with the G965 but the mobile version is next year sorry. So its GMA950 till then or ATI x1400 if you are VERY lucky (or is there a Geforce Go 7300GS?, that would still be way better than the GMA950)

What the hell? Since when have apple made desktop computers?
Sarcasm? Hard to tell. It's more polite to use some indication (smiley, text note) since there are many non-native English participants on this forum.
Anyhow, Apple Inc. was founded in 1976 and has made desktop computers continually since its inception.
Today's desktop product lines include: iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Pro.

Sh**!
My iphone 4 takes better pictures than any high end or low end sony camera I played with at best buy. The camera on the phone is just effing awesome.
You either played with broken cameras or didn't know how to use them. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone 4 camera is pretty darn good, best I've used on a phone by a long shot, but in no way does it compare to a high end camera. I think maybe you were simply fooled due to the higher DPI of the retna display vs the screen on the digital camera. Rest assured if you look at them using comprable displays or even better, in print, there would be no comparison.

I somehow doubt its true, but its a nice story.
When Ive returned a product, they have never asked for my name or address, and if I didnt give them my email address, there is no way they could contact me.
interesting cause when I bought my iPad2, iPad1, iPhone4 they always asked for my email and then it pulled up my info and they would ask me to verify that my info is correct...
Then if you register it they have your info that way to....

Over-the-air updates over the cellular network is a fine idea, but it's just not that important. That's not really a capability I value at all. Nice, but so what?
What Apple should have done a long time ago is made it possible to update and sync iDevices over WiFi. There is enough bandwidth on WiFi to do all of that just fine. And there is no technical reason it can't be done.
This. I could care less about wireless updating of iOS, it's not that frequent to be an issue. What I would like is to be able to sync up calendars, contacts, etc without having to plug into my iMac. What would really be nice is cloud syncing of my calendars (through iCal) but that would just be a plus.

Do you know what a computer without drivers is? A paperweight. The OS is not a single monolithic thing; it's made up of many components. The notion of what is "written into the OS" is more complicated than you seem to think, and it's childish to dismiss a vulnerability because it's in a driver.
Well... but at least it's not Apple's fault, because they didn't produce the driver. Therefore it's actually not a concern of Apple's but of the driver's producer's.
On the other hand Apple did include it into it's OS seemingly without testing it thorougly, and that is, of course, a concern of Apple's. So they will have to work together to get rid of that - and I'm sure they will - and I may be smug again. :p

They just capped us home and business owners (DSL and Fiber)...
I would imagine that wireless will follow. AT&T and Verizon will have to honor contracts for the time being. But when the contract is over...
I don't know if they "legally" are required to, but even when your two year contract is up they don't change it to one of their "new plans"
They will allow you to be grandfathered in as long as you wish, and as long as you continue to pay your monthly bill. Even when you extend a new 2 year contract and buy a new phone, you are agreeing to keep the service for 2 years, but they will allow you to stay on your original plan. That's how we are allowed to have unlimited data and iPhone 4's.

All this moral discussion about stealing a 1500,- bucks suite of software is pretty ridiculous if you put it into a relation to the billions of dollars/euros stolen from our tax money by the private central banks.
If a corporation steals billions that's ok, but if someone pirates a single piece of software that's theft.
The same rules should apply to everyone.
Btw, I have only legit software on my computer.

300-600 mb over the air?
Yes, completely unacceptable! Over a typical WiFi network, it may take a massive 600 MB / 10 Mbps = 8 minutes! That's a conservative estimate. My DSL connection is at 18 Mbps.
Then it's a greater problem for those who have data caps in my opinion. But that's not a new problem for those, and downloading iOS updates. It's just that this time it doesn't need to pass through iTunes first.

I'm also to the point of getting a MacBook for my next computer so I can bring it to work... I am SO much more efficient on my Mac than on my work PC. It's mostly due to expose, spotlight, and the dashboard.
I've already two computers on my desk at work, both of which are XP boxes, and I'd still rather bring my (as soon as C2D ships) MBP to work on that. Though I don't know if I'd actually want to hook it into the network at work. It's a pretty shady one.
Of course, not having had an macintel before, I have a question about parallels. How easy is it really to switch between the two systems? Is it a PITA or is it pretty easy? For me, it's easy to move from computer to computer to work with very little productivity lost. How much time does it take to switch between OS's when using Parallels?
Thanks.

From the iPod release thread; "All that hype for an MP3 player? Break-thru digital device? The Reality Distiortion Field is starting to warp Steve's mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is gonna take off."
Hah! Wow, all the angry comments of people who were so, so wrong.
Does this mean that people don't know what's good for them until its drummed into their heads for a while?
that is exactly what it means. those posts are funny from the ipod thread in 2001. look at where the ipod is now. i bet they all feel like losers.

Hi...do you think this upgrade will solve the ramdon MB crash problems? Or do you think, as someone told me yesterday, that this problems might be already be solved?
They were solved already with the last firmware update...and we're gonna have new MBs until next Tuesday, I am pretty sure.

And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!
If your paying $1600 just to see the new iPhone unveiled you are going for the wrong reason.
The fact that there may not be a new iPhone announcement must mean that their software announcements will be even bigger. Which is good for developers. It is a developer convention after all...
The new iPhone will come eventually. It was nice having it launch in the summer to help boost the summer month slump, as the highest sales are typically in winter then fade out slowly through the year, with bumps happening at new product launches. So moving the iPhone launch to later will make its effect quite different I think.

Hm. My older PB didn't fall into the 2005 recall, I wonder if it would fall under this current recall.
My iBook's battery does though. Sigh. Guess I'lll try to fill out that online form...
:Edit: Okay, looks like another Apple-side boo-boo. The battery's serial falls into the recall range but the site won't acknowledge it. Argh.

uh no... wrong.
IANAL, but A. the beatles lost... apparently a didnt believe they were protecting their property
The Beatles prevailed in the first trademark dispute, and Apple Computer are still barred from using that name and logo for music. In the more recent case, Apple Computer were found not to infringe because they carefully avoided using the Apple logo for the iTunes Store itself.
B. exactly what property do you think they were protecting? the idea that no company should be allowed to be called apple, in any business, ever? even after the same exact case had been settled before? ever heard of the 5th amendment?
The fifth amendment is US law, and does not apply in the UK where the the most recent trademark dispute was resolved. Even if it happened in the US, the fifth amendment is about crime, not civil disputes. Finally, the two Apple disputes were not for the same instance of alleged infringement, so even if it was a crime, a new case would be fine (the fifth amendment wouldn't prevent you being tried for alleged involvement in two robberies of the same bank).

Apple may have released Xcod 2.4. But it's only for those at the WWDC. I checked Apple's ADC website, and they have it listed, but it redirects you to http://connect.apple.com. I did some more digging, and they only have 2.3 on the site. They might upload it after the WWDC.

Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...
I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....
Happy Wife, Happy Life...
Not into that type of relationship.
That "type" of relationship? You mean that exact description. Because either A) you're not married, or B) have a very similar scenario with only slight difference. The differences being where you pass judgement, but remain altogether similar.
Wow - it just keeps going, and going....

so if u have 3 screws, that means it was serviced
my 2 macbook for business came out of the box with 3 screws so would that indicate that they serviced that macbooks before they were shipped to me
No. It has been established already that all the MacBooks have 3 screws. Mine was one of the first to arrive in the UK and It has 3 screws. The pic you just saw is actually from page 6, posted to show how it had 3 screws. This is a photoshop job.
