Friday Fashion Spotlight: Kate Spade

When I was in Jr. High or Highschool, too long ago can't remember, all the girls had these little Kate Spade backpacks and I was so totally jealous becuase I wanted one too, not because they were cool but because I wanted to fit in.

Little backpacks are lame so I'm glad I never got one
but I put Kate Spade in the back of my mind until recently
and now I'm obsessed.

The reason I love her line so much is because everything is so fun and feminine. She uses bright colors and lush fabrics and I just want to put on one of her dresses and frolick through a field of daisys.
A couple of weeks ago I fell head over heels in love with her Kellie Too pumps.
I think it's the blue color but I bought them and they are amazing. They also come in red and yellow.

I kind of want all three pairs...

so super cute on my feet

Here are some of the items I am currently pining away for from KateSpade.com

this is killer and so me

I almost bought these when I bought the shoes
I need them.

in yellow, red or blue

I just love the bright color palette. Don't you?
Spring please come soon!!
Happy Shopping
Happy Friday
Happy Weekend

Recipe You Must Try: Sweet Potato Casserole

This recipe comes from the cookbook The Comfort Table:Recipes For Everday Occassions by Katie Lee. This is another gift I got for the holidays and this is the first recipe I have tried out and I'm in L-O-V-E.
I loved it so much that I ate this for lunch today.
It's a great side dish and even has a dessert like quality to it so I could definitely see it being served as a dessert.
You could make this in a cinch and bring it to Thanksgiving dinner or a pot luck!!

Sweet Potato Casserole

Ingredients:
4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks (about 4 lbs)
1 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoon light brown sugar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teasponn ground ginger
One 16 ounce bag  large marshmallows

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 4 quart baking dish.

Place the sweet potatoes in a medium pot. Cover with cold water, bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook until potatoes are fork tender, 20 - 25 minutes. Drain.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan heat the milk, cream and butter until warm but not simmering.

Return the potatoes to the pot and add warm milk mixture, suagr, salt, cinnamon, nutmet and ginger. Using a handheld mixer whip the potatoes until smooth and cream with no lumps. Transfer to the prepared baking dish, top with marshmallows.

Bake until the marshmallows are golden brown, about 30 minutes.

So good.
I halved the recipe because two of us can't eat 4 pounds of potatoes.
Enjoy! and please let me know if you make any of the recipes I post, I would love to hear your feedback!
Bon Appetit!

Some Snow Emergency That Was

On Tuesday evening the State of Massachusetts declared a state of emergency in anticipation of a huge winter storm, or N'Oreaster as they call it here (dumb). Needless to say, we had flurries all day Wednesday but nothing stuck. So no snow here. It seems really unusual for this part of the country to be getting less snow than the more Southern states. I am a little jealous of all your snow! Give it to me!

ummm, some of these if you please!

I am sure everyone is gearing up for their Valentine's Day weekend! I've been loving reading about everyone's plans. And for those people that say they hate Valentine's Day you can shut your little mouth. It's a holiday for love of all kinds, not just for a significant other.
Love your Mom & Dad, Siblings and Friends.
Eat some candy hearts & chocolates
and stop being such a grouch!

I must say, and I'm sure you will get sick of my gushy lovey dovey engaged stuff soon enough, but I'm over the moon to be spending my first Valentine's Day with my fiance! You can stop rolling your eyes now, I'm done.

That's me over the moon

Also, I followed in Nicole's footsteps and I created a Tumblr account as a way to save all the images and things regarding weddings that inspire me.
Check it out if you like http://tangerinehearts.tumblr.com/

I hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday!

I have a delicious recipe to post when I get home from the hell hole office.
It's a side dish but so good I ate it for lunch! and so easy you can make it & take it to a dinner party!
Love you all

THE ARCHER & THE WOLF

I spent lo these past days creating my ode to valentine in Darlaville.

Here we have the lovely ( now 10 years old, yes double digits!) CZ as my Cupid-esque figure donning a semi military look complete with french inspired hat made from paper and sateen ruffles. I made the deconstructed skirt from crepe and vintage pages from Virgil's epic poem, The Aeneid.

We've all known cupid as a sweet deity whom inspires romance....and at times the savage archer randomly spearing us with the desire for the wrong sort.

My deity is riding her rough hewn chariot, pulled by blinded fowl... nobody is safe from the archer's quiver and drench-hearted pike !

The chariot I made of oak was somewhat inspired by Maurice Sendak's '' Where the Wild Things Are''.... hence my little wolf hatty addition to our day.

May your archer choose the sugar dipped darts and leave the poisoned
ones to the roosters.

The Bold And The Beautiful

Ok I'm not talking about the Soap I'm talking clothes in bright, bold hues. I have been seeing it all over the place and while I feel like Winter has me donning lots of gray and black come spring I'll be rocking pink and turquoise and other bright colors. I decided that grabbing a few bold colored pieces will be a great way to update my Spring wardrobe. Here are some of my choices:

Express High Waisted Mini Bandage Skirt
I want this one in Fantasia Blue but it comes in a total of 6 delicious colors.

This Hot Pink Shrug from BCBG will be a great addition
to a simple dress or even a t and jeans.

Sunkiss patchwork hobo from Steven by Steve Madden at Nordstrom
A punch of sunshine for any outfit

Love the pink in these Aldo heels

Who says the bright colors have to be on the outside?
Bio Fit bra from Voctorias Secret

Gorgeous bright howlight necklace from Heather Clark Jewelry
Heather is a fellow blogger, she has a great Etsy shop so go check it out!

Turquoise chandelier earrings found on Etsy

Is anyone else planning to add some bright colors to their wardrobe this Spring?

and a little update on this engagement biz-nass. We have both been overwhelmed with questions haha but we aren't going to be planning a wedding for 2010 so there won't be any plans to share but we do know:
  • Who we will ask to be in our wedding party
  • That my Parents will be throwing us an engagement party at their home on Long Island.
  • We will be engaged for at least 1 year
  • In about 6 months we will pick a date
  • We will dance to a classic song, nothing new or mainstream
  • There will be lots of blue
  • Our wedding will be in NY

I will spare you all by not turning this blog into some wedding fiesta :) but I will share some photos or ideas of things that inspire me. Like this photo:

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
Thanks to everyone for the congratulations!

Hair Styles Short Hair - Celebrity Haitstyle

Wedding updos can be elegant, sophisticated, and beautiful. Prom updos can be fun and flirty or classy and gorgeous. Similarly, hair updos can provide a casual look for day to day activities or a business look for work. Or, those looking for a little added sex appeal can experiment with a variety of hair updos to let the sultry side shine. One interesting variation of hair updos is the half up/half down style. These modified hair updos involve pinning up part of the hair while allowing the rest of the hair to flow around the shoulders or back. These hair updos can look stunning on a wedding day or they can look sexy for a night on the town.Generally, those using half up/half down style hair updos have medium to long hair, though shorter hair can still be attractive with these styles. Many women choosing to sport one of these hair updos, however, elect to add hair extensions to add to the contrast and beauty of the style. Half up/half down style hair updos can work with curly hair or straight hair and women with bangs can easily incorporate the hair cut into the style.Women with fine hair sometimes have a difficult time with half up/half down style hair updos because the pins holding it in place have a tendency to slip. Therefore, it is generally best to treat the hair ahead of time with plenty of gel and holding spray and to use many bobby pins.
