Don't Rain on My Parade

...unless I have a really stylish umbrella!

One thing I kind of love about NYC is that when it rains everyone seems to break out the black umbrella it's like part of some kind of New Yorker uniform. Then suddenly in the sea of black you'll catch a glimpse of someone's brightly colored, patterned umbrella and it instantly makes me smile.

It's been raining for days in New England with no end in sight and it got me thinking about how stylish an umbrella actually could be. Rain kind of sucks but I think a cheerful, fun print could make it a little bearable?

bright red polka dots from Target

vibrant, lime greem trimmed bubble umbrella from Totes

Tory Burch's pretty blue flowers

Is it raining where you are?
Do you sport the sleek black umbrella or go for a pop of color?

And if you happen to have a little tyke in your life, please get them one of these! so cute!

Layer It On

You know that saying, "the more the merrier"? Well I think it should apply to accessories too. I know sometimes simple, understated accessories work best but other times it's a pretty chic look to layer them on for a more fun, mixed media effect.

{via}

I love the layered looks the ladies are rocking above! I think stackable rings and bunches of bangles are my new accessory must have and a great way to add color & texture to a look.
affordable & adorable at $6.80 from Forever 21

stackable amber rings $75 from Etsy shop SecretCharm

Juice Couture bangles $88 from Nordstrom

pretty feminin rings $17.93 from Asos

Kate Spade idiom bangles $17-$42 each

House of Harlow 1960 jagged rings $100 via Shopbop

I regularly throw on a bunch of bangles to add a little something to an otherwise understated outfit. I'm so loving the inexpensive Forever 21 bangles, I think a little shopping trip might be in order asap!

What do you think, will you be rocking the layered look?

Denim Done Right

So last week I showed you an example of denim gone wrong but it got me thinking of ways to do it right!
I really like to demin "trend" and I say trend in quotes because denim never really wasn't trendy in my opinion but aaaanyway,
Here are some cute demin pieces to add bid of the blues to your wardrobe.

this super cute shirt dress from the gap would look fab with heels, sandals or boots!

these cute sandals are available at DSW and would look great with white jeans or a floral sundress.

this great shirt from J. Crew adds a touch of denim to any outfit!

While you might want to actually wear a shirt under it, this jacket is still fab!

this 7 For All Mankind denim vext via ShopBop looks great over a romper

This Be & D studded tote is a pretty funky way to rock the look.

This denim mini from Express is perfect for a night out!

Will YOU rock the denim trend in more ways than just jeans?

Happy Shopping!

Ultra Modern

That is how I would describe my home decor style.
While I can certainly appreciate & enjoy other styles,
clean lines, glass, metal and dark colors will always draw me in.

I recently received a catalog in the mail that I had never gotten before,
maybe you've heard of it?
it's called Chiasso.

I fell head over heels in love with their ultra modern home decor,
basically I want to have my entire home look like a page out of that catalogue!

love this color palette & the wall decals

lots of nice, clean lines

neutral gray with a pop of pink & purple

love the glass & metal

funky flower wall art

a different take on shelving

and a funky wine rack

Looking through this catalog has made me really want to redecorate my living room,
I have been dying to change our deep red accent wall to a dark gray and add pops of lime green.

Definitely take a look at Chiasso online if you have a few minutes to surf
they have a lot of different and interesting home decor choices!

Happy Tuesday!

Pretty Girly Things

I was always a tomboy growing up - you would never have described me as a girly girl. I was tough, always played with the boys and wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty.

For the most part that is still true today except that I have embraced my inner girly girl. While I tend to favor black or darker clothes and jeans over anything else, I do love me some feminine frills, floral dresses and bows.

Always looking to add new tops to my collection I went on a little Forever 21 shopping spree and noticed almost everything I purchased had some kind of ruffle or girly touch. So if you want to tap into your inner girly girl, if you haven't already, check some of these pretty girly things out...

wedges and sandals from the Gap

ruffle skirt by Haute Hippie, lace dress by LaROK both via ShopBop

floral tunic and bow top from Forever 21

statement necklaces available at Nordstrom

headband and hair flower from Etsy shop Everyday Fairytale
you must check it out

Hope you enjoyed this little feminine fix, how lovely are these items? Makes me want to run out and buy them all!
The sun is shining and it's 80 degrees here, perfect weather for an evening on the patio and some grilling.
Have a lovely day everyone!
