I have to say-- I was with Verizon for 4 years before getting the iPhone. I *knew* (meaning I told myself prior to) that getting the iPhone would mean worse service and coverage, but I bit the bullet and went with it anyway.
Having said that, AT&T has not been nearly as bad as I imagined. Hardly any dropped calls, and although coverage was a little better with Verizon, there are actually several places I get AT&T service now that I did not with Verizon. So it's pretty even I'd say.
The only issue I have sometimes is when I'm at like a sporting event or something in Philly I can sometimes not get service because of network overload.

nope, it just means they are iPods with video, as opposed to Video iPod. :rolleyes: it's got to be widescreen before i am going to watch tv on it.

Very interesting thread. It's a shame that you cant narrow it down to just one house. I'd be straight over, and the door would be kicked in. But...You dont really know whats on the other side of that door, so you should really take the police route. Then you can see the door be hoofed in. :D

I think it is a great update!!! Aperture will develop into an application that I just dont want to miss. I use both aperture and lightroom, both have their pros and cons. I can't wait to see where both apps stand in two years. I will go to the Photokina on wednesday and will let you know how aperture 1.5 feels.;)

This is nonsence. If the average user was interested in just Apple, then why are Apple on a lesser market share for pretty much... everything but MP3 players? How come Android is proving more popular?
You mean all the junk Google flooded the market with in order to inflate their share because they *still* can't make anything even remotely on the level of the iPhone?
Licensing out your OS to anyone that can slam together a box and unloading product via the likes of ZTE and cheap Asian outfits (i.e., the "other" category) is hardly impressive. It's the Wintel way of dong business. Great for pumping up market share, but the profits go to the cream of the crop: Apple. For the rest it's a race to the bottom.

I'm in 2011. And I'm seeing Android beat iOS in the mobile world, and slowly creeping up in the tablet world. I'm seeing OS X being turned from a pretty advanced OS to an App riddled toy. I'm seeing Apple discontinue server services. I'm seeing Apple making silly mistakes such as clock bugs and adding social networks to media players. I'm seeing Apple still not improve MobileMe.
You're seeing Apple hit new milestones and the competition keeping up the only way they know how: price and universal licensing. ZTE releases more Android junk and HTE releases their 20th variation of the same phone and it's crickets. Meanwhile there's so much as a hint of a new iPhone and the industry and market is just buzzing with excitement. The reason is simple: when it comes to Apple, consumer anticipation is in line with expectation.
As for the rest, Apple is following the same formula they always have. It's the ideal of engineering and design: simplify, simplify, simplify. Cut, cut, cut. Then perfect what's left over.
This is what results in record sales. With profits to match.

Ok, I've been going to macrumors.com for about 8 years or so, but I rarely post. How do I vote whether a story is positive or negative? They each look like a link, but upon clicking either and then refreshing the page.. nothing is any different. Am I missing something?

I agree. Although I live in the USA, I spend at least 4 months each year in the UK. Overall my mobile experience abroad is superior to that in the US.

New Intel towers could have made a good time for new displays too... but there's another good time coming up: new displays might come alongside Leopard, with higher DPI and full resolution-independent GUI?

Lee, my wife is a teacher. I'm quite aware of how much they make. For the record, they aren't required to have masters degrees (where do you get this stuff?). Most importantly, without thuggish unions, good teachers like my wife would make far more money than they do today, while the bad ones would make less or be fired. Good riddance. Our students deserve better. If you can't hack it, get another job.

Yeah....I know enough about the inner workings of how teachers are paid and how all that works to call BS on what you saying. Give you an idea of how I know fair amount of inner workers is my brother is becoming a teacher and he is the 6th or 7th generation teacher so teaching runs in the family.
Chances are with out the union you wife would be MAKING LESS not more. Most teachers are good. You have a very small handful that are bad but they are the ones that make the news because yes it is hard to get them out but at the same time those rules got put in place because the administration would really abuse their power.
The bad teachers you hear about but the large number of good ones never are talked about.
Pay for teachers is pretty much crap and they are not paid enough for what they have to put up with or the hours they have to put in. This goes double for any teachers in Math or Science were their pay is well below what they would in industry.
Master degree part what Lee made the mistake on involves a requirement to teach any class that can go on to a 4 year university and that is for accreditation n reasons.

I live in Australia and am on the Next G network and, to be honest, it's very disappointing. Coverage drops in and out even in very built up areas. I can't comment very much about the internet because I try to avoid using it as much as I can due to the insane amount of money Telstra charges.
Hopefully Telstra introduce this at a reasonable price. But, I wouldn't be surprised if it was between $600 - $700.

Logic Pro 7 has yet to be cracked, so Apple has people who know how to do copyright protection. I suspect Leopard will employ very strong TPM integration compared to Tiger.
