I've never really paid much attention to Apple's server software, but the Leopard Server sneak peek was pretty interesting.

I have my Macbook since July and have never experienced a random shutdown.
My Lenovo laptop has no known hardware defect and thanks to wonderful software from Microsoft I do experience random shutdowns, lockups, bluescreens, you name it.
Given the choice between a Windows box guaranteed to crash, get infected and worm its way around the network, I'd much rather get a Macbook with a pretty stable OS and generally wonderful machine.

So you think that Adobe is bad because CS3 does not run on Snow Leopard?
Think again.
CS3 has been published a long while ago, and Snow Leopard is brand new. A lot of system libraries have changed. I do not expect Windows 3.1 software to run correctly on Windows 7 either.
Are there any Mac developers out there?
Whats your point here?
You state old software wouldn't run on a new OS yet you go off and rant in the rest of your post.
Apple must have caused software vendors to rewrite their software a gazillion times:
- they switched from the 68K to the PowerPC to Intel
Software vendors writing their software gazillion times...please.
Apple made it easier for software vendors.
When going to intel from PPC,software vendors were freaking out that their software wouldn't run.Guess what,Apple came out with Rosetta. There was no problems
- they switched from OS9 to Carbon to Cocoa
- for Snow Leopard, if you want to run as a 64-bit app, you have to switch to the Cocoa libraries, and much of Carbon is deprecated.
Apples next OS will most likely drop Carbon altogether. I have written programs for the Mac for a long time now, and I have spent 75% of my productivity just rewriting my programs over and over again to adopt them to Apple's library changes.
Woah Carbon was for OS9 Developers
And with OS X,Apple has carbon and cocoa.
They had theses 2 API for such a long time, they should I just went to Cocoa years ago but no they stuck with 2 to help the software developers.
Besides Carbon is crap, only argument carbon developers used was
"Well the Finder.App was made in carbon so carbon is a better then cocoa"
lol
Adobe is big, but I bet that many of their Mac programmers are busy just following Apple as they try to leave software vendors in the dust because they switch system libraries and CPUs at will.
Only thing here thats valid if the company develops in carbon.
And for Poor adobe thats the case.
Maybe at this point adobe CS5 can actually be we-written from scratch instead of adding extra code to a already horrible broken coded program which is what Adobe being doing for the past couple of years.

The important part of all this is we'll be able to do the .x updates without connecting our devices to iTunes, even if it means using WiFi.
I'm guessing iOS 5 will offer patches, instead of the full OS, letting users sync on their carrier's network. It's true this update method is more dangerous, but I have a feeling Apple is working on a safe way to do this.

You can save a little money by buying the box set on CD from Amazon, but then your music is in that old-fashioned "hard-copy" format so you have to rip the music to iTunes! :)
Amazon also sells the mono collection, which I've been contemplating but haven't yet purchased.
Got it.Love it.And the stereo box,and the memory stick with the complete stereo box in MP3(or is it AAC..or both?)AND FLAC-the highest quality ever released.

That's not how I understood what he said at all,he put "professional" in quotes because he was being sarcastic,to me he meant that if someone is worried about the fact that more people can now operate a software because it's simpler to use/more affordable then they must not be a real pro because a real pro wouldn't worry about such things, they know that they have the creativity and experience that sets them appart.
But the ****ing public doesn't get this. Everyone loves Friday by Rebecca Black - explain that.

That thread is full of some of the most comical and short sighted statements you'll ever see. Good thing Steve Jobs obviously knew what he was doing a lot more than the forum posters of the time did. That's why I laugh at some of the more critical comments you see on some of the threads today as well. In 10 years they'll look just as comical and short sighted as those do I'm sure.
So true. That's why Steve Jobs is where he is and all the naysayers and criticizers are where they are.

I am shopping for a phone as my contract is up and I am considering iPhone 4 or waiting for the iPhone 5 and I'm also considering waiting for the new Nokia's so I'm looking at this with some interest.
What concerns me with the iPhone camera's isn't the optics and the sensors, it's the horrible post-processing that's automatically done to make their (iPhone) pictures 'seem' better, as in the colour saturation. It makes images seem unreal. (Try taking a picture in Grey Manchester) and you'll see how unrealistic the images look.
Can this be turned off? If not, then the 5 -> 8mp nor if they bump up to Karl Zeiss optics won't have any affect as they are still taking unrealistic representations.
I took some around Christmas time with all the lights on, and it actually suits it. But yeah I do hope they give us the option to remove the gloss. I guess that will go hand in hand with using better optics if they're serious about making a good phone camera.

They force you to make backups instead of being able to go on your account and download everything you bought if you need to again. (That is increased cost on my side, because I have to buy more hardware to do it and need to not only store it but store it again as backup.)
I sympathise with lots of your points, but this one doesn't necessarily stand up.
Cost of an external hard disk to back up my entire music library (if I had bought it all from iTunes): Approx 40
Cost of shelving to hold all my CD's: Approx 200

1) Prejduice- BS. Plenty of successful blacks out there. The race card is officially invalid.
Just because some are successful does not mean all can be. There is plenty of racism still around in most countries, and yes it does effect the less off more than those that are well off.
2) Poverty- Yes, but why is the question? How is it that other races don't have such a huge poverty issue when living in western countries, but so many blacks can't get themselves out of it
Because Blacks are not all the same. You cant lump people of one race all in one group and expect them to all to have the same results. There is a history in the US of racism that still effects many black Americans. Many black Americans can't afford to go to college for example. Poverty is a vicious cycle that preys on its self.
3) Access to societal goods- How so? They're not exactly in concentration camps.
Poverty - look up computer ownership by race. Look up access to books, education, nutritional information etc by race.

No, Apple is a hardware company that develops the OS that runs on its hardware.
How about this? Apple is an ecosystem company. Their business model depends on the user experience being sound, solid and pleasant. Trusting the core OS or the hardware to other companies makes it difficult to guarantee that sound, solid, pleasant experience. Their hardware business relies on their software business, which relies on their hardware business. Without one, the other doesn't work. Fostering software developers is their way of maintaining relevance (and these days, dominance).
They handle the hardware part with hard nosed and shrewd business practices, such as locking up long term contracts for displays, etc.

I'm pretty sure readings of 15C-19C are incorrect. I've NEVER seen or heard of modern laptop/desktop CPUs running that cool.
I'm sure you're correct but I'm confused as to what results to believe.
I'm now using istat Pro, Temperature Monitor and Core2Duotemp. All are saying the same thing.
See the screen grab below.
If I put the machine under stress it does go up to 50 or 60 degrees but generally, it's saying around 21 when idle.

I have been wanting to move from Windows to an Imac, but I was looking to join up with Apple finally moving to more competitive machines in terms of speed. With the Merom being Apple's choice instead of the more upgradeable Conroe I am wondering what we will all be thinking 6 or 8 months from now when Windows will be running on potentially 4 core machines while we are all stuck with 2 and no headroom. Probably not a concern for current Mac devotees that see the OS as plenty of reason to stick with Apple, but in my mind, instead of the first generation of "faster" Macs we may be buying into just another generation of Macs that run significantly behind the power curve.

Doubt it, American labor unions will never allow that. haha. Plus, China won't have problems finding labor in the country.
YEP!
Electronics manufacturers are not in China for cheap labor. The manufacturing process is so automated that there is very labor involved. They manufacture in China because of currency exchange rates, and because of lax environmental laws.
Really? So I guess the 920,000 people working at FoxConn are just standing around goofing off?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn
FoxConn has a net income of about 2.2 billion. Their gross revenues are about $59 billion. If each worker cost them just an extra $2,500 per year ($210 per month) they would be out of business and have to shut their doors.
And everyone here knows damn well that Chinese workers get paid much less than US workers, in other words doing FoxConn in a country with higher labor costs would mean that everything would cost a CRAP LOAD more money or it wouldn't get built to begin with.
----
As someone pointed out, Samsung may assemble SOME things in korea but individual components are often build elsewhere. Samsung also does a lot of Chinese manufacturing too. In fact, out of the Samsung devices I own they are all MADE IN CHINA too.

In the 2 years I've had an iPhone, I haven't once visited a website that has needed Flash. Personally I really don't care if the iPhone gets it or not. It does the sites I need.
All this is, is Apple thinking it knows better than the consumer, a Steve Jobs mentality. I like his thinking but I'd like to see an actually push by Apple to make things better then.

Unfortunately, I don't think the silent majority of drones who use the facebook app care about the approval process. All that matters to them is that they get their facebook.
So let's say facebook were to pull the app in protest, or development stalls indefinitely. Who'd get blamed by the population as a whole? Facebook or Apple?
