I have been wanting to move from Windows to an Imac, but I was looking to join up with Apple finally moving to more competitive machines in terms of speed. With the Merom being Apple's choice instead of the more upgradeable Conroe I am wondering what we will all be thinking 6 or 8 months from now when Windows will be running on potentially 4 core machines while we are all stuck with 2 and no headroom. Probably not a concern for current Mac devotees that see the OS as plenty of reason to stick with Apple, but in my mind, instead of the first generation of "faster" Macs we may be buying into just another generation of Macs that run significantly behind the power curve.

Yep, poor ole' Saddam, just an innocent bystander.
Saddam was not the threat that Bush made him out to be. It was only after the WMD charade completely fell apart (I suspect Bush figured they'd find something to tout as proof, didn't happen) that the reasoning was shifted to "spreading democracy" and the atrocities of Saddam were pushed hard. Simply put, the war was built and sold on a complete lie, and it was only after that fell apart it became about human rights and (US interests approved) "democracy".
If a country's regime committing human rights abuses was really the USA's reasoning behind intervention we would have invaded Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc. Simply put, the USA cares if and only if there is some vital interest to be obtained. I haven't quite figured out the strategic importance of Libya to be honest. Who knows, maybe it'll be just like how massive lithium reserves were (re)"discovered" in Afghanistan after we invaded (they have been known about for almost a century, but it seems to have escaped the history books somehow).

I think what you said is very interesting and insightful. I have a big problem with the concept of original sin, or that people need saving in some way.
If I could just pick out some small thing?
I'm not sure everyone is born strictly neutral. There is a lot of evidence to show morality is, in part, evolutionary. I'm not saying people are born to be automatically wonderful, but if there was no structured society people would not all become mass murderers. Therefore I'd say people (with a few exceptions) are born with very basic morality already in place. However, upbringing and society can add or detract from this.
Of course, this is viewed by a modern standard, and as you suggested- what is "good" and what is "bad" without a standard to judge it by? My head hurts! :confused:Monotheism was invented by priests in exile: they needed to acquire leverage over a scattered population. How better than to tell everyone they were damned by default and could only be saved through the intercession of God's Go-Betweens™. In the Good Old (Polytheistic) Days, you could play one god off against another.

Foxcom is a Taiwanese company. We have done a h..l of a lot for Taiwan. Why in the h..l can't they invest the $12 billion to build a manufacturing facility in the USA?
Its unbelievable that these companies don't even consider investing in the USA. I am about ready to boycott anything manufactured by Foxcom!

Doesn't mean facts are not alowed here. I simply stated facts. Apple does not have the best hardware you can not say they do. They make great computers but there are always companies who will make a better product then them. Unlike software witch is a mater of Opinion hardware is a mater of Fact and Fact is apple does not have the best hardware. They purchase their hardware from the same places as everyone else.
First of all I want to apologize for calling you a troll, that was uncalled for.
Apple has never been about the producing products solely based on their specs. In fact, Apple likes to downplay the specs and focus on the the integration of hardware and software. Hence, the total user experience. In some cases there are good reasons why Apple chooses not to use the latest hardware (Nvidia/Intel issue, battery life, etc.). One of the down falls of the Windows PC manufacturers is there insistance that all the user cares about is specs. Average Joe cares more about what they can get done whether then if the laptop has the latest generation of processor in it. You can continue to argue all you want about which computer manufacturer has the best hardware but at the end of the day Apple is still packing their stores and fulfulling millions of on-line orders for soon to be very happy customers. If Apple followed the trend that the rest of the Windows PC manufactures are following there would be no doubt that Apple would not be as success as they are.
Apple follows the less is more mantra and guess what an awful lot of people agree with that by voting with their dollars.

Do you have any idea of how racist and xenophobic that sounds?
(seems like you got my point, though, and good on you for that)
So if I go to Norway, stab someone because of some arbitrary reason. What would you want to happen when my defence is 'Well when someone disrespects me or my friends, we stab them, so in our culture, that's ok.'? Just let me carry on about my business? What if I killed your parents or someone close to you? Would you be ok with it because my defense is 'it's my culture to kill another person'.
There is a line between respecting a culture and allowing violent crime just because you're afraid to seem racist. The culture and acceptable behaviour in Europe is that it's not ok to cause other people physical harm for any reason. If you are on holiday in Europe and from another culture, then you should respect the culture of that country. Laws based around violence are there because of our basic human rights. We have a right to live our life without the threat of violence. We have the right to go into a chicken shop and not be shot in the throat. If a white person shoots someone I love, or anyone in general, guess what? I want them to go to prison for it. This isn't a race or culture thing for me. You can't go around using violence to get your own way.

I am picturing you steering right to go down a list, left to go up and honking each time you want to middle button. :)
Now that would be fun. :D On the back of the steering wheeling in my Jeep there are buttons for volume +/-, station +/-, seek and input select. The adapter I bought plugs into the factory radio's wiring harness and makes the stereo think it has a CD changer pulgged in. The seek button cycles through play lists while the station +/- lets you change tracks. It is pretty nifty.
My HD based iPods that failed from too much time on the back of a motorcycle didn't show signs of failing. They just farted out and unhappy faced me out of the blue.
The first time mine did that it took me about a week of fiddling with it before I was able to get the drive reformated.
You know, it's like the headphones with remote and mic w/ volume controls never happened to half you folk. After a very short and easy learning curve, it's even easier to interact for basic functions than the wheel. One of the projects that's on my list of to-dos before my South American ride is to rig a control scheme.
True, but I already had the iPod Video with real buttons and the BT adapter I was using was only a transmitter. Sure I could make the transition to the touch. I was just pointing out that buttons weren't useless. ;)
As for your trip, you don't need to rig anythig up. I have a Belkin SportCommand (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/belkin-sportcommand-fabric-remote-for-ipod/) that works great on the bike. I just strap it to my left thigh and have full control over the iPod stuffed in a bag. Just drop your hand down to the control and you don't even have to take your eyes off the road.
Unfortunately I was just looking and they may not make it any longer. There are other, similar, solutions out there.

Who cares about Flash? Most of the time it's used, it's because the web designers are too dumb or lazy to get the page right without it, because they haven't kept out with what a modern browser is capable of.

Then how do you turn it off? If it's a feature I should have the option to change it back to how it was. It's pretty annoying and I'm surprised no one else is complaining about it
It's an Apple feature, and Apple said yes (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/18/ipad-2-wife-says-no-but-apple-says-yes/), so you don't get an option :)
As for those people with Verizon iPhone:
I'm pretty sure Verizon got a copy of 4.3.1 and decided not to release it for their customers. It's usually up to the carrier to test and okay any OS on their network. Verizon has always been the slowest in doing so; it's probably a good thing because the OS on their phones are for the most part very solid.

Because getting your iToy within eye sight of a 300 Lb round-belly hillbilly or 400 Lb woman in pink stretch pants and camel toe does not make for the best experience.
I just thought I would let you know that you could still purchase an iPad at any of the other stores; just because RadioShack sells it as well does not mean that you have to purchase from them. Would you rather they didn't sell it at RadioShack or Walmart at all? Why wouldn't you want people who don't live near any of the other stores to have a nearby store from which to purchase Apple products?

...at this moment, it's not a problem most Mac users need to worry about. But blowing it off completely is sophomoric at best.
Yup. As others have said, this isn't an Apple specific problem, but its good to expose the flaws found and get them sorted. Nothing really to see here, move along.
Dang video keeps stalling on me. We much be flooding it with requests.
