    Probably never.

The most likely scenario would be reunification between the UTMS/GSM and CDMA software in iOS 4.4 or definitely iOS 5.

It appears that Apple forked the 4.2 code for the CDMA iPhone and there's no clean way to reincorporate those changes into the 4.3 branch.
Battery life in 4.3.x sucks. Verizon users should be glad to be on 4.2.x!

No, there were many specific allegation (for example the patent claims), and many others (trade dress) aimed at a broader range of devices. And for the claims that don't require pleading with great specificity, they did give examples.

So we agree that their lawsuit isn't "a specific claim against a specific model". ;)

Judging by the progression in the poll numbers, looks like FUD is gaining traction.

Does that surprise you, or is it just a comment? Right now, MS is in the highest stakes game it has been in for many year, maybe ever.

The mighty giant has been pantsed. The cut-throat business practices of the past are not only well-known, but are also being scrutinized.

MS does not have the best PC OS/Desktop and that is now a known fact by many.

The business community, long a MS stronghold, has grown weary of paying predatory licensing fees for MS backoffice and the desktop. MS does not want to give this up. They want to keep their stranglehold on this market. Purchasing managers are taking a hard look at alternatives, like Apple. much is riding on Vista. it absolutely has to succeed for them. If after five years, with all of its' vast resources, Vista cannot beat OSX, Redmond's reputation, and credibility, is going to suffer badly. The floodgates may open. The wildcard is Leopard.

MS could not delay Vista any longer. But, Redmond knows Apple has the last play. Steve just has to love the position he is in. MS has to play their hand and he can come in and trump it at will. At most, Vista could draw Windows even with Tiger, although most thing this is fanciful thinking on their part. MS is definitely scared by what is coming next (and when).

So, we are going to see even more of this message board trolling and FUD. There are many obvious 'newbie' troll posts. But, I am also seeing some 'moles' trolling too. Some of them showed up many months ago and are now regulars. What they are doing is providing newbie support.

The newbie comes on with a troll post, and bam, he gets a regular, or two to give legitimacy to the disinformation. The thread is off and running. Another tactic I notice is the thread subject troll. The subject line is written to be very negative, but then the first post is very much toned down, sometimes even apologetic, "Sorry for venting, I know this is rare...", that type of stuff. The damage is done and no one is aware it was a disinformation attack.

The stakes are high and MS has been found guilty in court of doing the things I am describing. This is not the ranting of a paranoid. I happen to know a considerable amount about disinformation and the tactics involved. With a little work, you can see the same things. Look at the post history for those making anti-Apple posts. The critical eye can discern the inconsistencies in what they write.

Lets assume I opt for a ssd hard drive and my mac ships 4 weeks from today also lets assume Lion comes out in 6 weeks. Typically apple gives the upgrade for free for anyone that purchased a mac in the last month. Would you still get the upgrade for free since you purchased the imac 6 weeks ago or is the upgrade determened by shipping date?

My recollection is that Word for Windows doesn't have it either. I have no way to verify that right now, though, since I don't have a Windows computer here on the premises.

Word XP & 2003 for Windows have a "book fold" option - not the same as the process that lifeofart was describing, which is more like something I've used in MS Publisher 2000.

Obviously taking everything out of context, when we are dealing with the bleeding obvious there is no reason not to suggest it. I watched the video before reading the comments, so your point has no substance. You must have seen a lot of people having fits to be able to make such a confident judgement. Personally, having only lived with a severe epileptic in the household for nine years, I would unhesitatingly defer to you expertise. What do I know?

C'mon Apple... don't let us down here.

I agree with the other posters here that Apple needs to take this seriously and kick it into high gear. Send a message to the world (or at least your user-base) that you're on top of the situation.

I for one, feel that Apple will come through, and am glad becuase I think there will always be a huge "community effort" put into making our choice of platforms better in terms of security

ok, I'm sorry but how the hell do you know what I do or don't understand about nutrition?? your presumptions are offensive

And yours about me weren't ? Look, I made my presumptions based on some facts you posted :

    - Too busy to work out (which isn't an issue for weight control)
    - Having to lose weight (Doctor's orders)
    - Thinking Yoga is an effective weight control.
    - No mention of food.

I made a presumption that you don't understand the basic premise of weight control. I hope my post at least opened up your eyes and you can go from there to learn what works for you, with your busy schedule, instead of thinking a busy schedule is a reason to stay the way you are.

This is her choice. It effects her and her family, not you. I forgot how God declared that fat people go straight to hell, because being fat is so evil...

It's her choice up to a point. There's nothing wrong with 20 lbs overweight, give or take a few. Doctors will always tell you to be in the "zone" (healthy weight with a BMI between 18-25) but mostly there isn't much harm until later in life. Just like there's nothing wrong with taking fast food in reasonable quantities, or smoking if done occasionally.

However, what she is doing is not just affecting her and her family. Morbid obesity affects all of society, be it through requiring services reserved for the disabled (she's not really disabled, she just chooses to be). The problem, like in all things bad for you (fast food, alcohol, smoking, drugs, whatever) is not occasional use, it's abuse. This woman has an abusive food consumption. Your examples are wrong because they try to equate what she is doing with what people are doing within reason. Your list should have been more :

    - Alcoholics should be able to stay that way! There's nothing wrong with 2 glasses of gin to wake up
    - 3 packs a day of smokes is perfectly fine!
    - Gambling all your money away and then borrowing some to gamble more is a person's choice!
    - You can never have enough Crystal Meth.

The fact is, these are abusive tendencies which stem from deeper problems or addictions.

BTW, I run about 5 km, 5 days a week. I ski (doing mostly Park, so climbing uphill on foot dragging my equipment), I do weight lifting too. I think I can sit and post on Macrumors a few times :D

People's perception of reality matters more in these situations than actual reality. The fact that the average guy in the street probably still thinks/thought of him as the head of al-Qaeda is the important part.

This acceptance of perception being more important than reality is exactly why everyone hates politics, its how this kind of thing works. It's a huge part of the problem when reality doesn't matter any more. It's an immense danger.

i'm on my second mighty mouse [soon to be third once i have this once replaced] in 6 months. the scroll wheel stops working pretty quickly. i don't find the size of it all too comfortable.. but when it's fully functional it's a decent mouse.

if they don't fix the scroll wheel issues though, i'd say the BT version is worthless. it's unacceptable that apple hasn't fixed this issue on the wired version. they can replace it all they want, it's still going to break a month or two later. plus, it takes 30 minutes or so for them to replace it, which is rather annoying.

all in all, cool that it's BT now, but terrible if they don't fix both versions.

WOW! It looks like wIndows 3.1!

I know - it's funny how things come full circle.

Mac OS X was all about color and Aqua.

Then, it started moving back to clean, iTunes style windows. OS 9 gray started replacing the "pinstripes" that were with Aqua and the dock became 3D.

    Now we're back.

Honestly, I don't mind it. I work on my Mac all day and it's nice to have some more friendly looking programs. I don't see a huge difference in UI differences that it's going to cause me (at least) any inefficiencies; but to each there own.

    Jul 24, 10:02 PM
About time we get a wireless more than 1 button mouse from Apple, I am still suprised it has taken then this long.

Great. Really screwed a lot of the world on pricing. In the UK, we have 20% VAT, but that doesn't mean that Apple should then scrape an additional 200 on top of this thinking users won't notice.

And don't just say it's more expensive. They are all manufactured in China.

    Okay, let's work it through.

Base iMac is $1,199 and 999. $1,199 is currently 727 in a straight conversion. So let's see:

    727 * 1.20 = 872.40 (VAT)
    727 * 1.08 = 58.16 (Additional cost of doing business in UK)

    872.40 + 58.16 = 930.56

    Difference: 68.44

Now I can never remember how this works but I *think* there's an additional 3.5% import duty which would account for a further 25.45 which brings the extra cost down to 42.99, or just about 6% of the US price. Considering Apple also have to allow for currency changes that's hardly a rip off.

    Apr 22, 04:22 PM
