The Red Carpet Fashion on Golden Globes

Post image for Golden Globes: The Red Carpet Fashion

I love watching the red carpet. The men always seem to look the same, but the ladies sure know how to dress to impress.

Walking down the red carpet in their custom made dresses, sparkly shoes and clutches, and jewelry so expensive that even the Hollywood big shots are bedazzled, the women of Hollywood are either going to hit or miss! This year was no exception as the beauties walked down the red carpet.

A couple of weeks back, I wrote about fashion trends in 2010 and quite a few of the 2010 fashion trends were represented on the red carpet.

The Thigh-High Slit

This is actually a trend that I did not include in the list of 2010 trends, but it is going to be very, very hot this year. To me, this trend is a bit daring for the everyday girl, but if you have a fancy party to go to in 2010, why not slip into this trend?

The always lovely and sophisticated Jennifer Aniston looked very sexy in this black dress. She was not the only one sporting a thigh-high slit (in her case extra high) as many actresses including Sandra Bullock, Marion Cottilard and Heather Graham also went for this look.

Ruffles

Ruffles were huge in 2009 and will continue to be a hot fashion trend in 2010. The red carpet saw quite a few ruffles and my personal favorite is the Valentino dress worn by Chloë Sevigny. This dress has made both the best-dressed and the worst-dressed lists, but I think she looks very confident, modern and beautiful!

Prints

2010 is going to be a lot about the prints. And not only on shirts and blouses, but also on pants. The lovely Glee actress, Jayma Mays, wore a black and white Badgley Mischka gown. It is discussable whether or not this gown suits Mays, but it incorporates not only the print trend, but also the ‘see-through-fabrics’ trend.

Nude Colours

In 2010 we’ll see a lot of white, rose and putty tones. Quite a few dresses in these colors were to be seen on the red carpet too. One of my favorite dresses of the evening was worn by Emily Blunt.

Red Carpet Fashion

The texture and the color go so well together making this dress very feminine, but not at all girly. Emily Blunt looks ravishing in her rose colored dress. Others who wore nude colors include Jennifer Hudson, Christina Hendricks and Kristen Bell.

Blue

Blue is a wonderful color and a great alternative to wearing black. Ashley Olsen’s dress combines both the 2010 trend of blue with the ruffles trend, making the beautiful actress look stunning!

See-Through Fabrics

Lingerie inspired clothes and see-through fabrics have been shown on many runways for 2010. The trend was well represented on the red carpet, making for instance Sandra Bullock look fabulous.

What’s your take on this year’s Golden Globes fashion? Who did you like and who did you not like?
